D. Eric Leighton, Co-founder, President & CEO

Eric Leighton is an originating founder of LoadSpring Solutions, Inc. with 14 years of management and technical experience in computer hardware and software related industries. Prior to founding LoadSpring, he was Director of Operations at New Technology Solutions, Inc. reporting to the President, where he was responsible for the development and delivery of all hardware products, as well as managing all key infrastructure partnerships to support $8 million in annual hardware sales. Mr. Leighton developed his management and support skills as a Special Accounts Manager for Parametric Technology Corporation in Waltham, MA. He was responsible for managing a specialized team of highly skilled software specialists whose goal was to provide proactive rapid response to the daily issues of PTC’s top 25 global customers. Mr. Leighton holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maine in Orono, ME.  Mr. Leighton enjoys hiking with family, mountain biking, travel and Harley Davidsons and is an active member of his community serving the local Red Cross and taking leadership positions in local and state scouting.

Jim Smith, Executive Vice President

Jim Smith is an originating founder of LoadSpring Solutions, Inc. and has 12 years of technical and management experience delivering and supporting technology solutions to meet customer needs. Prior to co-founding LoadSpring, Mr. Smith was Director of Technical Services at New Technology Solutions, Inc. where he managed a group of implementation specialists providing data management, mechanical design, and systems integration services to U.S. customers. He also managed the performance curve of high powered workstations and provided technical sales support to prospective customers. Before NTSI, Mr. Smith was a Functional Leader at Parametric Technology Corporation supporting their industry leading mechanical design software Pro/ENGINEER, where he was responsible for helping remote design teams take advantage of the advanced surface modules of the products. Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.

Tony Maciel, Co-founder, Senior System Administrator

Tony Maciel has been with LoadSpring since its inception in 1999. He has 10 years of professional services, consulting, training, and technical support experience in the high-tech industry. Prior to LoadSpring Solutions, Mr. Maciel was Manager of Technical Services at New Technology Solutions, Inc., where he helped the company build a consulting and training group focused on the implementation and training of Pro/ENGINEER, a 3D design software package, and Pro/INTRALINK, an Oracle database. Before NTSI, Mr. Maciel spent several years with Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC), where he was a technical support liaison for several high visibility customers. Mr. Maciel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Mike Kennedy, Vice President – Technical Operations

Mike Kennedy joined LoadSpring in October of 2005, bringing nearly a decade of management and technical experience in computer- & network security-related fields. Prior to joining LoadSpring, Mr. Kennedy was the Project Leader – Systems Administration for SunGard BSR, where he managed a team dedicated to network security, server implementation & availability, and help desk operations. Mr. Kennedy’s responsibilities centered on internal IT operations for all local and remote business units. While managing the team, he also was the senior/primary technical lead for all security platforms, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange. Mr. Kennedy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Bentley College in Waltham, MA. He enjoys attending sporting events with family & friends and is an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

Mike Thompson, Director – Corporate Sales

Mike Thompson brings significant territory sales and key account management experience and expertise to LoadSpring. Immediately prior to LoadSpring, Mr. Thompson was the Sales Manager for the New England territory of Insight Enterprises, a Fortune 500 company that address the IT needs of small- and medium-sized businesses around the world. Previously, he was a Senior Executive Account Manager at PC Connection, where he worked directly with upper management and IT departments to meet the technology needs of companies like Whirlpool, Sports Authority, BCE Emergis and others. Mr. Thompson has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology and Chemistry from the University of Maine, Farmington.
